Common questions.
Everything you need to know about Athladent, the formula, and how to use it.
The Basics
Why do athletes need a specialized toothpaste?
Nearly half of endurance athletes have active cavities due to high sugar intake, acidic sports drinks, and exercise-induced dry mouth. Conventional toothpastes weren't designed for this environment. Athladent is formulated specifically for the oral conditions created by training — before, during, and after.
What makes Athladent different from regular toothpaste?
Most toothpastes offer one or two protective features. Athladent combines ultra-low abrasivity, an SLS-free formula, nano-hydroxyapatite for enamel remineralization, and natural extracts that support the salivary pellicle — your mouth's natural defense layer. It's built for athletes, not the average consumer.
Is Athladent safe for everyday use?
Yes. Athladent is gentle, SLS-free, and safe to use as part of your daily routine. It's designed to be used alongside your regular fluoride toothpaste — not instead of it.
Can non-athletes use Athladent?
Yes. While designed for athletes, anyone seeking advanced enamel protection and a low-abrasion formula can benefit from it.
The Formula
What's the difference between fluoride and nano-hydroxyapatite (nHAp)?
Fluoride strengthens enamel by forming acid-resistant fluorapatite — but it relies on saliva to work, which makes it less effective during exercise when saliva production drops. Nano-hydroxyapatite works independently of salivary flow, delivering calcium and phosphate directly to the enamel surface. This makes it uniquely suited as a pre-training application.
Why is Athladent SLS-free?
Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) is a common foaming agent that can irritate oral mucosa and delay healing of canker sores. Athletes already face elevated rates of oral irritation during heavy training blocks. Athladent uses cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) instead — a gentle, effective surfactant that cleans without causing additional mucosal stress.
Does Athladent contain fluoride?
No. Athladent uses nano-hydroxyapatite as its remineralizing agent instead of fluoride. We recommend continuing your regular fluoride toothpaste morning and night — Athladent fills the gap fluoride can't cover during the training window itself.
How to Use
When should I use Athladent?
Brush with Athladent one hour before training on every training day. On race days and heavy training days, brush one hour before and one hour after. Continue your regular fluoride toothpaste morning and night as normal.
Why one hour before — not right before training?
The one-hour window gives nHAp time to bind to your enamel surface and establish a protective mineral layer before acid exposure begins. Brushing immediately before training can mechanically stress enamel that's about to face an acidic environment — the buffer window matters.
Does Athladent replace professional dental care?
No. Athladent supports your daily oral health routine but doesn't replace regular dental checkups and in-office treatments. Think of it as your pre-training performance layer — not a substitute for clinical care.
